The Opportunity Funds Association (OFA) is an advocacy, education, and communications organization established to enable Opportunity Fund managers and investors in Opportunity Funds to participate in public policy, share best practices, and communicate the industry’s contributions to distressed rural and urban communities across the country. OFA will help connect Opportunity Funds to investors and promote the successes of Opportunity Funds in the local communities and on Capitol Hill. Launched in May 2019, OFA is the only member-driven 501(c)(6) trade association exclusively for Qualified Opportunity Funds, their parent companies, and preferred service providers.

Communications

OFA will serve as the leading voice for Opportunity Funds, vigorously defending their value while highlighting the positive impacts in the court of public opinion. OFA will also hold an annual meeting addresses Opportunity Fund challenges and highlighting successes.

Federal Advocacy

OFA will have a robust presence on Capitol Hill. OFA will focus on lawmakers on the Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees to preserve, expand, and extend the Opportunity Zone legislation. OFA will engage Executive Branch Regulators and educate all members of Congress on the local impact of the policy.

State Advocacy

OFA will work with state and local governments to maximize potential investment opportunities within their states, advocate for complementary policies with economic development authorities and serve as a conduit to Opportunity Fund managers and investors.

Policy Formulation

OFA will develop and maintain several policy committees to ensure a forum for members to collaborate and develop policy positions and advocacy opportunities. The association will develop guard rails and compliance metrics to ensure the highest level of social impact.
